well here's the kicker for me. years ago (and still today) people bitch and moan about how people put too much work into sound design and wonky sounds but keep the same structure and composition throughout their songs (eg. zomboy, tisoki, VR, etc.) i dont agree with that but its a valid complaint i guess

fast forward to artists like megalodon and ponicz who make music that has unbelievably interesting and unique structure throughout all their tracks, but uses the same sets of sounds, and people STILL bitch. quite frankly if he started making things differently he wouldn't have a signature sound anymore and he wouldn't be megalodon. can't please everyone but it's kinda ridiculous at this point lmfao

I get where you're coming from, but the thing is, in Megalodon's case it seems like he doesn't even bother to change up the structure much or the usage of sounds anymore. they were pretty unique at first yea, but he exploited em to a ridiculous degree (especially last year). imo the key of having a signature sound and at the same time doing something different is to keep a fair balance between the two w/o letting one side to overtake the other, otherwise you're left with either a song you've done already, or something you can't recognise as your own creation, let alone anyone else. its hard to do, sure, but a producer of his caliber should know this by now.

well i think that lots of his songs switch up the formula a decent amount. his whole my selecta EP was full of songs that had their own flair to them, and just recently he made this weird electro house tune that was interesting.

hood anthem has been a plate for like over half a year now (it might actually predate dutty skank), so i think he was just sitting on it until NSD100 came out (as lots of artists on the comp have done, consider playtime by LAXX which has been in several mixes now and dead presidents which was a plate literally 2 years ago). i totally get what you're saying but i have respect for him either way, it all sounds good to me B|

lol yeah, forgot this was a plate from some time ago. and same here, I guess Im just kinda picky when it comes to producers I love, cause I want them to improve and at the same time I feel like some are kinda at a standstill. either way, glad to see a different point of view on these things

Damn... am I the only one who misses the old megalodon? Like powerlines, heavyweight, tramp stamp, exc.

Don't get me wrong I don't want the old megalodob back, I just wish he didn't take the route he did and wish he developed his Riddim sound more..
